A body camera shows the moment a Texas police officer jumps into a pond to rescue a woman from a submerged car.
West Orange Police Officer Charles Cobb was on patrol last month when the boy approached his car.
Cobb used a window-breaking tool and freed the woman from the car, then carried her to shore, where he performed first aid techniques on her.
“Actually, I was standing on the side of the road and I saw him running into the inside lane of the seven-lane highway. So I went over there to see what was going on. It’s one of those situations we face a lot, where you get something and you have to act immediately. She wasn’t going to survive. So I went into the water and did what I could,” says Officer Chuck Cobb, West Orange, Texas Police Department.
Cobb received an award from the West Orange Police Department for saving a life.
The city of West Orange also honored Cobb and others for their bravery, including two civilians who assisted in the rescue.
