The second day of the Perth Test belonged to India. Team India has scored 172 runs in their second innings without losing a wicket. Currently, KL Rahul is on 62 runs and Yashasvi Jaiswal is on 90 runs at the crease. Team India’s overall lead has now reached 218 runs. India scored 150 runs in their first innings, while Australia’s first innings ended at 104 runs. India had a lead of 46 runs based on the first innings. Yashasvi has faced 193 balls so far and has hit seven fours and two sixes. Meanwhile, Rahul has faced 153 balls and has hit four fours.
Australia’s first innings
Australia’s first innings collapsed for 104 runs. On the second day, the Kangaroos resumed their innings at 67 for seven wickets and lost the remaining three wickets while adding 37 runs. Australia lost their first wicket on Saturday in the form of Alex Carey, who was caught by wicketkeeper Pant off Bumrah’s bowling. Carey managed to score 21 runs. Following him, Nathan Lyon fell to Harshit Rana, scoring just five runs. Both these wickets were taken by India within the first hour. However, it took Team India an hour to dismiss the last pair of Stark and Josh Hazlewood. Stark and Hazlewood put on a partnership of 25 runs for the 10th wicket off 110 balls. Stark scored 26 runs with the help of two fours off 112 balls. He was dismissed by Harshit. Hazlewood remained not out on seven runs. Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah took five wickets.
Australia had a poor start. In the third over, Bumrah dismissed Nathan McSweeney LBW. He could only score 10 runs. After that, Bumrah had Usman Khawaja caught by Kohli, and then on the very next ball, he got Steve Smith out LBW. Khawaja scored eight runs and Smith did not open his account. Travis Head was clean bowled by debutant fast bowler Harshit Rana. He managed to score 11 runs. Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh fell to Mohammad Siraj after scoring six runs. Siraj then dismissed Labuschagne LBW. He could only score two runs off 52 balls. Australian captain Pat Cummins was caught by Pant off Bumrah’s bowling. He scored three runs. Currently, Alex Carey is unbeaten on 19 runs and Mitchell Starc on six runs. Besides Bumrah, Harshit Rana took three wickets and Siraj took two wickets.
India’s first innings
India’s first innings collapsed for 150 runs. The Indian team could not bat for even 50 overs collectively. The entire team was dismissed in 49.3 overs. Nitish Reddy scored the highest with 41 runs. Additionally, Rishabh Pant scored 37 and KL Rahul made 26 runs. India had a poor start. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal, who came in at number three, returned to the pavilion without opening their accounts. Virat Kohli was out for five runs and Dhruv Jurel for 11 runs. Washington Sundar could only manage four runs. Pant and Nitish shared a partnership of 48 runs for the seventh wicket. This partnership was broken by Cummins. As soon as Pant was dismissed, the Indian innings folded at 150 runs. Harshit Rana was out for seven runs and Bumrah for eight runs. From Australia, Josh Hazlewood took four wickets, while Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Marsh took two wickets each. This also marked the end of the tea break.
