According to reports, Apple is about to alter its streaming approach in response to the box office triumph of movies like Leonardo DiCaprio’s “Killer Moon” and Joaquin Phoenix’s “Napoleon.”

The business apparently decided to stop releasing its films in theaters and has reevaluated its efforts in creating original content, according to a Bloomberg article.

This change is the result of multiple unsuccessful attempts by Apple to grow the number of Apple TV+ subscribers.

The aim behind releasing their films on the big screen was to increase streaming service subscriptions in addition to providing satisfaction to actors and directors like Martin Scorsese. The public’s reaction, though, was not what was anticipated.

Abandoning theatrical releases would allow Apple to more efficiently reallocate its budget for original content.

The company is reportedly looking to move away from big productions and focus on projects with budgets under $100 million. Following the lead of Netflix, Apple is reportedly looking to reduce the number of films it produces annually and eliminate the additional costs associated with distribution and marketing in movie theaters.

Apple TV+ may be considering incorporating advertising into its streaming platform, following the example of other services such as Netflix, Disney+, Max and Prime Video, which have already integrated advertising into their offerings.

Apple has reportedly been in discussions to investigate data collection techniques to track ad success with the UK’s Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board (BARB), according to a MacRumors article.

These talks suggest that Apple is getting ready to introduce its streaming service with an advertising-supported model.

Limited commercials have already been included by Apple into its live sports programming, including its coverage of Major League Soccer in 2023.

In several nations, like the US, Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max and Prime Video already have advertisements on their sites. Customers must choose more expensive subscription plans over the basic ones if they wish to eliminate advertisements.
