False threats in Houston schools have parents worried

A message on social media claimed there would be a shooting on Monday morning.

HOUSTON – Parents from different school districts in our area woke up Thursday to phone calls and text messages reporting alleged threats by phone.

The situation began early in the morning when parents from Pasadena ISD, New Caney ISD and the Yes Prep charter school system in the Aldine area received messages from school administrators reporting the alleged threats.

Although the school districts dismissed the veracity of the threats once they were reported to authorities, families lost their peace of mind and even decided not to send their children to school.

Parents even gathered outside Yes Prep North Central to demand more police presence outside the school once they learned of the alleged threat.

Parents of a high school in the Pasadena area also expressed concern on social media. More than 100 people commented on the situation, expressing their concern about the alleged threats.

The truth is that after the shooting at a school in Georgia, there have been multiple threatening messages posted on social media in several school districts in the Houston area, which has increased tension and nervousness among parents.
