The Italian coast guard said on Thursday that the body of British technology tycoon Mike Lynch was among the bodies recovered from the wreck of a superyacht off the coast of Sicily that its builders said was unsinkable.

Rescue teams recovered the bodies of Lynch and four others. A woman was still missing.

The Bayesian, a 56-meter (184-foot) British-flagged yacht, sank during a storm early Monday while it was anchored about a kilometer (mile) off the coast.

Civil protection officials believe the boat was hit by a tornado or a waterspout and sank rapidly.

Fifteen of the 22 people on board survived, including a mother who reportedly held her one-year-old daughter above the waves to save her.

Lynch was celebrating his recent acquittal on fraud charges with those who defended him during the trial.
